Behind The Scenes – A Party

Lions, Tigers & Bears – Oh My!

…A Party Planning Story of a Circus Carnival Themed First Birthday Party…

When the client approach me about the Circus Carnival Themed birthday party, it sparked my interest & my party planning wheels began to turn. I kept thinking about lots of COLOR, ANIMALS and lots of BALLOONS for this party. The challenge would be to create a fun party for young kids, but manageable in a backyard. Originally, we discussed having the party inside and to use the outside patio but after much thought, we decided it would be better to have the whole party outdoors.

The team researched games that would be fun yet appropriate for a group of small children. We had already settled on a jumpy and a tyke trampoline/ball pit. We decided to add ducks in water, circus themed corn hole, ring toss, knock the cans down and a bubble station. We added brightly colored balloon bundles with the game station carnival font signs for each game. Concrete chalk evened out the game options.

To make an entrance, we added the oversized pinwheels for the yard, a circus sign with the activities listed, a welcome sign, and balloon bundles to add some color pizazz.

The food table was a lot of fun with the carnival colors, the Ferris wheel & lion smash cake lined on top of boxes of animal crackers as the focal point, circus decorated sugar cookies {made by Louise’s Cakes & Things in Hoover}, pigs in a blanket, popcorn in customized bags, marshmallow barbells, animal crackers, chips in polka dot cones, grapes and animal cookie sprinkled cupcakes. Of course, the food table would not be complete without some additions of animals and customized pieces to celebrate Wells and his first birthday.

The drink table pulled out the same carnival colors but incorporated the circus theme with a tiger in a cage, animals scattered around the drink containers, and a stuffed monkey. The mints in an adorable paper carton and fun yellow and white striped straws topped of the details on this table. The juice boxes were a hit with the kids. What child does not love to help themselves?

A kids table with a red and white plaid overlay, bright colors, balloons, a fabric birthday hat, and roasted peanuts in paper cartons {for party snacking} were added. We like to keep the table decorated

We added some cotton candy cones with customized tags, to thank the guests. This was a wonderful time of celebrating Wells! We really love party planning & Any Reason To Plan!
