Planning A Kids Party – Part 2

So with the invitations out and the linens decided for the table, the next items on the list were food tents, cupcake picks and water bottle wraps.

To me, it is the personalization that makes the party!

The eight-year-old-to-be decided on the menu: pickles, cheese puffs, watermelon & pineapple, sugar cookies, cupcakes and a donut cake. So I rounded out this awesome eight-year-old menu with a few adult-friendly (and non-sweet) items like mini pretzel bites from Aunt Annie’s and fruit skewers as well as added a few foods items that would be too cute to miss like stacked Oreo’s (tires). After more time researching for the perfect graphics, I cut/paste/rearranged to make the food tents. After the designing of the food tents, then came the fun part – naming the food and drink in “Hot Wheels” terms. This was a little more challenging so back to the internet to research “all things about racing”. After lots and lots of searching, I settled on a few fun food names such as “Nuts” (mini pretzel bites), “Stop Lights” (watermelon, pineapple and green grapes on skewers), and “Dipsticks” (cheese puffs).

I stumbled across pre-made, free Hot Wheels cupcakes picks design on Google that went perfectly with my colors. After printing and cutting on the cutting board, the picks were complete.

Normally the water bottle wraps are just printed off the printer with a fun design but after researching I noticed that Duct Tape manufactures a checkered flag tape – I was sold. Two days later, the checkered duct tape was at my door. With a cute racing “8” on top of the duct tape, the water bottle wraps were complete.

The next phase is décor and more. More to come….
